The Myth of Musical MythesJuly 2025
Client: The Story
Art Director: Chris Harrigan

This article takes aim at the romanticised notion of spontaneous creativity in art (especially music). The writer argues that social media has amplified the myth that great art just "happens" without effort or labour, which gives students and aspiring musicians the wrong idea about effortless genius. It asks why this myth is so attractive to people, and why it's the wrong way to look at creativity.
